Checkmate #23This is possibly the most underrated comic on the market. Greg Rucka, Eric Trautmann have created an espionage masterpiece set in world of super heroes, villains, terrorist groups and lots of political backstabbing.
It's a damn shame that Rucka and Trautmann have just announced they are leaving the book. Joe Bennett is also leaving, so it's three times the loss three times the misery.
Luckily that is still months away and I plan on enjoying the hell out of the next three issues.
#23 kicks of the "Castling" storyline as we learn what Pawn 502 has been up to since his deep insertion of the terrorist group Kobra. All this leads up to what promises to be a simply spectacular finish in #25 where we will FINALLY see the ROOKS unleashed! Cannot wait.
The Immortal Iron Fist - Orson Randall and the Green Mist of Death.
From the too talented for words Ed Brubaker and his trusty accomplice Matt Fraction we get this one-shot tale of the golden age Iron Fist - Orson Randall.
The "Immortal Iron Fist" has been one of the best comics to hit the shelves in a long time and this issue only promises to deepen the mythology that is being created for a character that had been neglected for far too long.
It kung-fun, gun play and as Orson squares off against none other than the Prince of Orphans in a battle that will surely be felt across the years for Danny Rand.
